VIDEOGAME CONCEPTS
Welcome to my corner of creative exploration, where I share a variety of game concepts, demos, and experimental studies in Unity.
Here, I dive into the heart of game design through the lens of MDA (Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics) using these principles to understand how gameplay can evoke emotion, challenge, and delight to the final player by different ways.
Each project you’ll find here represents a small experiment, a step in my journey of discovery, and a way to explore creative ideas freely without the constraints of a full production.
IN VITAM (01/2023)
In this game, players take on the role of a brave knight who must navigate an island teeming with monsters, learn new skills, and recover the Ring of the Void to enter the castle where the last of three witches, responsible for spreading chaos, is hiding.
Throughout the adventure, players will encounter a variety of enemies, from skeletons to ghosts, which must be avoided, fought, or outwitted. These challenging encounters make it crucial to manage health carefully and acquire potions, as losing all hearts will result in restarting the level — though all collected items and abilities are retained.
Abilities available to the player include:
- Roll: Allows the knight to dodge monsters, fire, and arrows from traps.
- Gloves of Strength: These magical gloves enable the knight to break green stones with the sword, revealing new paths and secret routes.
- Bow: Enables ranged attacks against enemies and allows interaction with distant buttons or switches.
- Ring of the Void: Grants access to doors protected by dark forces.
- Swift Boots: Once obtained, these boots increase the character’s base movement speed.
Game controls:
- Z key: Attack with the sword and confirm menu options.
- X key: Perform a roll once the ability is acquired.
- C key: Use a potion to restore one heart, if available.
- V key: Shoot arrows when the bow is obtained.
- Escape (ESC) key: Access the menu to return to the main screen at any time.
- Arrow keys: Move the character and navigate menus.
All sprites, animations, and tilesets were created by me using Aseprite and Piskel. Below you can see a selection of the sprites and tilesets I designed, along with a preview of the completed main map.
ALIEN KID – A TOMATO SOUP (08/2023)
In this demo, you will take control of a brave young alien who is forced to land his spaceship on a planet ruled by hostile tomatoes. Your mission is to collect all the chips needed to repair the ship and escape the planet.
Game controls:
- X key: Shoot your main laser pistols (infinite ammo).
- C key: Holding this key you can run increasing the character speed.
- Space key: Pressing it you can jump.
- Arrow keys: Used to move the main character.
All sprites, animations, and tilesets were created by me using Aseprite and Piskel. Below you can see a selection of the sprites and tilesets I designed, along with a preview of the completed main map.
